[MAC8]Origins

"Reminiscent of the MC7 Track"

submission: [MAC8]Origins
date: September 6, 2008

I am quite fond of songs that start out slow and classical, serving as a sort of contrast to the quicker parts. The transition from something more orchestral to something very drum and bass styled was excellent. I could picture a very Madnessy scene that this song could be utilized in. You have a gift.

6 in a Row

"Oh god, rofl!"

submission: 6 in a Row

I'd say the lack of skill contrasts the awesome beat, but that would be untrue. I can't tell what makes it so funny. Guess it's the seriousness in itt all. Then again, it's barely serious. God, you are good.

"Nice little boaty-sinky-fun-timey-time."

submission: Pirate memories

The instruments give a real oceany mood to the song. I like the hi-hat bits in there. They're really what gives the wave break feel to it. I still feel that Prison Ship was better, but do as you wish.

Techno Breakout

"Repetitve..."

submission: Techno Breakout
date: July 21, 2008

Seriously, a "breakout" would be an explosion of techno. if you want to acquire this, have the general volume and rhythm explode into something louder and faster. The repetitiveness was only broken by a slight change of instruments. Although the idea was right, you didn't make this thing go above the level of win it was at.

Tribute (to the Greatest Song)

"Great remake."

date: July 17, 2008

I noticed you doubled up the notes a little bit and added an electric guitar a little bit earlier than normally. I love this song and how it's so diverse. However, without singing, the intro seems a little repetitive and bare. I know that's out of your control, but it just diminishes the value of the song. Maybe make a version with a voiceover?
I did like the little a Capella bridge. Really worked well, even though the merge back into the song changed in volume significantly.

Good job; 9/10, 4/5.

Mario Flying Cap Remix

"Sorry about the previous review..."

date: July 17, 2008

I feel like an ass.

What I like about this is the whole flying feeling of it, which is very appropriate for the Wing Cap theme. The instrument used for the basic "cap theme" has a very elevated feeling, which, when added with the percussive instruments not only gives this a flying feeling, but also a bit of a quicker paced soaring. Another aspect I noted was the blended of notes together to make the rise in pitch seem more gradual, as is a flight session with the wing cap. Those marimbas or whatever they're called did not serve any atmospheric purpose, but were still entertaining to pick out among the song.

"Beautiful piece..."

date: July 3, 2008

I'd have never imagined this sort of theme for Ozar Midrashim. I like the whole military feel to it. The drums and the cymbals have the real effect of a pre-battle atmosphere. The guitar and the synths (I assume they're synths) are used nicely together. The transitions are as smooth as a baby's bottom and the song is parodied perfectly, without deviating too far from the original, an excellent quality of a cover.

Really one of the greater songs, elevated (not reduced. lol).

Author's Response:

I'm glad you like it; we're working on another version of this track, but with the way it's going, it's going to be guitar-heavy (in fact, I don't think I've added a single synth) and have a progressive metal feel. Actually, to more accurately describe it, it's like throwing Raziel, Rush's "YYZ", and a live Primus concert into a blender. Trust me, it'll still be awesome, but it's not going to be the same as this track.

Thanks for your review.

Ozar Midrashim remix V1

"Great remix!"

date: June 11, 2008

In fact, the only remix as of now on NG. Ozar Midrashim is an amazing song and you've done a great job remixing it. The intro brought back memories of fighting vampires with the tense string plucking and drums (at least that's what I believe they were, since I'm not a learned musician). The transition into the ambience was excellent and changed the originally epic mood into something more melancholy, which is an excellent interpretation. The strings emphasized this mood with the long, drawn-out notes. The scratchy synths could have been replaced with something better. My favorite part of the original song was the climactic part with the long high notes. In this remix, I personally did not like how that was transcribed, but of course, that's my opinion. Aside, the melody held the basics of the original without being too similar. A perfect deviant.

Hope to hear more from you.
